ART + EDUCATION Marcela Avelar partnered with Grammy nominated musician Valerie June and illustrated Somebody to Love: The Story of Valerie June’s Sweet Little Baby Banjolele, a children’s book released November 2022 by Third Man Records. ART + MUSIC Her art extends to album covers, treating each piece as such. She has work with musicians like Special K’s, Yacouba Sissoko, Aloysius 3, So Brown, Pete Remm, CJ Wallace, Wes Hutchinson and 9 time Grammy Award winner Norah Jones. She also designed the stage for Norah Jones’ 2017 Day Breaks World Tour. ART + HOSPITALITY Currently she is in collaboration with a Mexico based developer to create unique designs for tiles and textiles. Working closely with the artisans to create unique art to celebrate our culture. ART + BRANDS In her years as Creative Director she has had the pleasure of bringing her art to brands like Summit, Marc Jacobs, Oribe, Tanya Taylor, Frank White, WTRMLN WTR and Nike, among many others.
